Introduction
This tutorial is designed to teach students, faculty and researchers how the Institutional Review Board functions and how the IRB review process is carried out at Truman State University. The tutorial is organized into four modules:
Module 1
Introduces the Institutional Review Board through a brief history of human subjects research, and explains the IRB's various functions.
Module 2
The second module explains the numerous stages of the review process.
Module 3
Module 3 will cover research involving children and vulnerable populations, in addition to an introduction to consent.
Module 4
The final module will be an in depth look at the consent process, covering the various requirements to satisfy consent.
